**As cheesy as the pop music was at this time, the mixes were just as cheesy and sometimes even more so! However, every once in awhile you'd get a mix that actually went somewhere and didn't sound like the demo button on a Casio keyboard. This is one of them. I just found this mix again on an 8 year old CD and I've never found this mix since. I don't know who Bruce Cockburn is, but aside from having a name that makes me giggle, he gave us this really high energy and drama filled mix!**

**What I love about this is it's a perfect time capsule mix. This is both early Thunderpuss (when they were still Thunderpuss 2000 or TP2K) and early Britney. Both have come a long way since this but it's still interesting to hear such a young Britney and a very rough around the edges Thunderpuss production.**

**This is SUCH a great track! The thing that sucks about an artist like CeCe is that once she released "Finally" that seemed to be it for her. She made her mark in dance/pop music and was seen as a one hit wonder after that. She's had SO much great music and back in 1996 she had this song. Francesca Gramm - Time Waits For No One (Warren Rigg Radio Edit) **Official Edit**
**I love when the big time remixer collaborators get to step up to the plate and show us what they're made of. 9 times out of 10 they sound just like the mixes they do with the big time remixers, which kinda always made me wonder what their parts are in the mixes? Who really knows? Well, Warren Rigg not only produced this track but co wrote it as well with Miss Gramm (who by the looks of the CD cover looks like a Mrs. Gramm) and it's a really great production! Francesca's voice does leave a little bit to be desired but she's got a husky, Marlene Dietrich-esque sound that works, but it doesn't really go anywhere. You be the judge!**

Rockell - Tears (JM's Dezrok Radio Edit)
**I've always been a fan of Rockell as I've always loved freestyle music. As time went on it was natural she'd end up on the dance floor and she made it in a big way. Her hit "The Dance" was a favorite of mine for SUCH a long time and continuing with that sound, this mix comes courtesy of Dezrok. Both he and Hex Hector produced "The Dance" but this time on his own, he created originall an 11 minute anthem! One thing I love about his work is that they usually have the most gorgeous intro's that tend to get cut when making an edit for a CD single. However, I had to include it here, so I fused the intro of the Club Mix with the original Radio Edit to get this. Enjoy!**

**When I first heard this song, it was the Robbie Rivera Dub which was outstanding and a staple of NY nightlife when this came out. However, since I don't usually edit dubs, I needed a vocal mix and while the original one is a funky upbeat track, Widelife turned it around and kept the energy but made the sound bigger. I love them for that!!**

Welcome Back to...uh...ME!!!

So yes, the time has come and I had to come back! There's way too much music out there for me to not share!

As you may or may not have noticed, I have a new layout, but aside from that, there have been quite a few blogs that have been deleted lately and I really don't want to be one of them. The main cause of it seems to be the posting of either Mariah Carey or Madonna's music.

And even though I did a really cute edit of the Seamus Haiji mix of Mariah's "Touch My Body", I don't feel comfortable posting it for the time being. I'd like to keep this blog as under the radar as possible.

**I love Cher so much and if all goes well, I'll be going to see her in Vegas later this year with the hubby! But even though I love her and I love Junior, this is not one of my favorites but a special request. The original is a great song and I don't know that I think this one translated that well to the dancefloor. Ah well! You can be the judge!**

**I love when they take artists far away from their own element and even though Faith Hill is a country/pop artist, she sounds great on the dancefloor. **This song kills me! The first time I heard this I was hysterical! But it's hard to argue with a lyric like "I don't give a fuck no more, if people think I am a whore. I just wanna dance!". Having said that, this is from a musical they made in London about the Jerry Springer show and this song made it's way into the very able hands of Wayne G. Well, he didn't just turn this out, he WERQUED it out!! High energy doesn't even cover it!!**

**Who knew that all those years after "Clueless" little Brittany Murphy would become such a great singer! The rumor has it that she's been doing back up on hip hop and R&B songs for years but didn't want to be credited for it because she didn't feel comfortable being in the forefront as a singer. They say that she's the female voice on Nelly's "Hot In Herre" but who knows for sure? Only Brit. Well leave it to Oakenfold to get her to be THE vocalist on one of his tracks and the collaboration couldn't have been more perfect. This is one of those songs thats great in any incarnation but Eddie really made something out of it! So much so that I prefer this over the original which is also amazing!**

La Bouche - In Your Life (Dezrok Radio Edit) **Official Edit**
**We all know them from their hits like "Be My Lover" and "Sweet Dreams" but this song was released in 2002 which was a B-side from Melanie Thorton's solo career but since her death (due to a plane crash in 2001) the song was re-worked with vocals from Le Click's Kayo Shekoni to complete it. Dezrok really took this to the next level. The vocals are stunning as is his production and it would've been nice to see La Bouche go down the vocal house route with an updated sound.**

Mandy Moore - Candy (Richie Santana Radio Edit) **Official Edit**
**Even though Richie Santana has kinda gone down the dark tribal route with Victor Calderone, there was a time when he was making a living from tearing up cheesy pop records which is what he did here. Mandy Moore, even at her youngest, was given a great treatment from Richie here and is my favorite mix of this song. And btw, Mr. Santana is hot as hell as well! Haha!**

**Back in 2001 Sa-Fire tried to get a jump back on her career by releasing a Best Of CD produced by her old friend Tony Moran. Tony did an ANTHEMIC mix of her classic "Don't Break My Heart" as well as redoing some old school beats with new vocals from Sa-Fire as well. The cd also included a new duet with fellow freestyle diva Cynthia. To be honest, I wasn't a huge fan of it, but Richie did turn out a solid production which deserves to be heard.**

**I. Love. This. Song. LeAnn ALWAYS sounds great on the dancefloor and this is no exception. Richie gaves us a hands in the air vocal anthem here which to me is where he really shines! LeAnn is SO right for the dance floor!!!!

After LeAnn Rimes exploded on the scene with her hit "How Do I Live" she had a string of hits (including one of my fave's "Can't Fight The Moonlight" from the Coyote Ugly soundtrack) but then she seemed to disappear from the mainstream spotlight.



However, behind the scenes her songs have been getting remixed and basically everywhere but the US has caught on!



The first song here "And It Feels Like" is by far and above my favorite LeAnn track ever! Even the original is amazing but Hi-Tack took the song and made it an anthem of the highest order!! Easily one of the best songs of this year!!

Back in 2001 there was a movie released named "Driven" which turned out to be a big flop, produced by Sylvester Stallone, however, the soundtrack spawned yet another good LeAnn song. "Soon", while never a single, got picked up by remixer Dezrok and once again with his touch, he created a dancefloor stomper!

On October 9th 2007, LeAnn released a new CD entitled "Family" which is all based on her personal life. Once again LeAnn gets the dance treatment with the first single "Nothing Left To Do", this time remixed by the Soul Seekerz. This edit I did not do however and it is an official one.

Sometimes I don't have to do any work at all!

In 1998 Rockell (born Rachel Alexandra Mercaldo) exploded onto the dance music scene with her CD "What Are You Lookin At?" which had the great singles "In A Dream", "When I'm Gone" and "Can't We Try" (w/ Collage).

At least here in NY, she became a staple for dance/freestyle music and her songs are still in rotation on WKTU 103.5.

Then in 2000 she released her second CD, "Instant Pleasure" which was a much more house music oriented CD, having songs written and produced by Tony Moran, Giuseppe D, Tony Colluccio, Hex Hector & Dezrok.

Here, the lead single, "The Dance" (a Garth Brooks cover) produced by Hex Hector & Dezrok was an instant favorite of mine and remains one to this day. I didn't even have to edit this one as the original edit is perfect all on it's own.

Fun Fact: Rockell's backup singers on this CD were Zhana Saunders (aka Inda Matrix) who's done the vocals for all the Tony Moran "Alegria" songs as well as her work with Dynamix ("No Man Can Tame Me" & "Bodyfly"). Also doing backup is Nicki Richards, again, another one of Tony Moran's favorite vocalists who covered "Let The Sunshine In" and has the song "Freedom" just released on Tony's latest CD "The Event".

While being world-renowned for his work with The Police, Sting (born Gordon Matthew Thomas Sumner) has had quite a prolific solo career.

Back in 1999 this song was the lead single off of his two time grammy winning album "Brand New Day" (Best Pop Album & Best Pop Vocal Performance Male) which by January of 2001 went triple platinum!

While not your conventional vocal, Victor Calderone created a vocal anthem with an arabic influence (which the original song had due to it's featured vocalist Cheb Mami) that is pure dance music heaven. Again, I needed to do no work on this as the radio edit offered on the CD single is great on it's own.
