Thunderpuss (Part Three)

The more I dig, the more I find lol... That's one of my favorite things about this blog. The more I post and the more I get to interact with you all out there, I remember songs I haven't heard in forever and get to relive it all again!!

Thank you all so much for your love and support of this blog!! I can only hope that you continue to read and enjoy all of this great music!! :-)

Abigail - Let The Joy Rise (Thunderpuss Radio Edit) **Official Edit**
**I've always been such a huge fan of this song. Abigail started out over seas doing really cheesy dance cover versions of pop songs for Klone records (including kd Lang's "Constant Craving" which is actually pretty good). This song was Abigail's first venture as a solo dance artist with original material. There's not much better than when Thunderpuss takes on an uplifiting anthem track! And this 1998 one is one of their best!**

Amber - Above The Clouds (Thunderpuss Radio Edit) **Official Edit**
**When this song came out, Amber was untouchable and this song quickly became one of her biggest! So much so that this song was even featured in the final episode of "Sex and The City"! While almost all of the mixes were great from Jonathan Peters, The Berman Brothers, Thunderpuss & Sal Dano & Brian K, Thunderpuss' was just a LITTLE bit better than the others. It has mainstream sensibilities but works great in clubs as well. The Sal Dano & Brian K running a very close second (and they provided a SICK Dub as well!).**

Britney Spears - Don't Let Me Be The Last To Know (Thunderpuss Radio Edit) **Official Edit**
**Both Thunderpuss & Hex Hector turned out incredible mixes for this song! Hex went the Dezrok route with a slick production and dreamy synths that focus on the songs original beauty. Thunderpuss took a harder route with punchier synths but both Hex & Thunderpuss did something amazing here: They (at least for me) took a ballad and made a dance version out of it which is better than the original. I prefer this song as a dance song much more than a ballad. Written by Shania Twain (who also does backup vocals for the song) and her ex-husband Robert "Mutt" Lange, the songs melody just feels so at home on the dancefloor!**

Brooke Allison - The Kiss Off (Goodbye) (JM's Thunderpuss Radio Edit)
**Brooke Allison had a minor hit with this song in 2001 and it actually peaked at #28 on the hot singles sales chart. Since this song and her debut album she went on to do some work for Disney but that's about it from her! Thunderpuss really takes this song on with a vengance. The original is a very cheesy pop song that uses the AOL "Goodbye" sample in it which now in Thunderpuss' version sounds quirkier but it works very well. This also has some killers synths and hits all over the place...along with some great vocal effects.**

Enrique Iglasias - Be With You (Thunderpuss Radio Edit) **Official Edit**
**Ahhhh...The other side of Thunderpuss! Around this time in 2000, Thunderpuss' sound started to take a different direction. The beats were faster and smoother and the synths were dreamier and trance like as can be heard in this mix as well as their Lara Fabian "I Will Love Again" mix which I'll post another time. You can also see though that just because the main part of their mix sounds a little different, they still know how to make a wicked build up!**

Gloria Estefan - Out Of Nowhere (Thunderpuss Radio Edit) **Official Edit**
**After Gloria hit big with her "Gloria!" cd which was full of club mixes galore, she released a Greatest Hits Vol 2 CD and this was one of the 4 new tracks on the CD's. Peaking at #6 on the dance charts, it even recieved a Grammy nomination for Best Dance Recording (losting to Janet Jackson's "All For You"). With remixes by Boris & Beck, Metro, Obadam, Vito Andolini & Thunderpuss the CD release was packed with options. Mine was obviously Thunderpuss lol...Boris & Beck and Metro produced some cute mixes as well, but Thunderpuss takes this where it needs to be and seemed to be the next logical choice after all the mixes from her last CD.**

Thunderpuss feat Jocelyn Enriquez - So Fierce, So Fabulous (Freak Out) (JM's Thunderpuss Radio Edit)
**I've heard some really gay music in my day and THIS is right up there! Thunderpuss joins forces with dance music favorite for this fierce and fabulous song which samples Chic's "Le Freak" all throughout. It's big, it's loud, it's here and proud! Blast it boys!!!**

LeAnn Rimes - Tic Toc (Thunderpuss Radio Edit) **Official Edit**
**Quite possibly the best of all the LeAnn mixes out there!! LeAnn wants it and she wants it now!!! She's isn't holding any punches back on this song which has her moaning and singing about her screwing her brains out. The most genius part is of course the build up where LeAnn is literally climaxing which has her singing "A little to the left. A little to the right. A little bit longer, all the way tonight. I close my eyes, my body tenses. Boy you're touchin all my senses. Don't stop, c'mon, I'm almost there...". GAG!!!!**

Luther Vandross - Can Heaven Wait (JM's Thunderpuss Radio Edit)
**Now we all know that Luther had one of the finest voices in R&B but I gotta be honest when I say I don't know what was going on here. This seems like one of the biggest 'message songs' ever. Listen to the lyrics and you'll see what I mean. I've heard Luther's mixes before and some of them have been good and while Thunderpuss put out a great mix and gave the song energy with the few powerful notes Luther has in this song, I don't know if I really enjoy this one as a vocal mix. As a dub, the mix is great!! Luther's vocal just doesn't really do that much for me here and I feel that his typical smooth delivery is a little lost sometimes.**

Mandy Moore - In My Pocket (Thunderpuss Radio Edit) **Official Edit**
**Another underrated artist here! I love Mandy so much! This was a great single for her as it already had a dance beat (which came with a hot video as well), I was overjoyed when Thunderpuss took to it!! Like with their mix for Janet's "All For You", this has some really good vocal effects here and a hard hitting mix (with two build ups!!) that you can't help but move to!!**

Mary J Blige - No More Drama (JM's Dramatic Thunderpuss Mixshow Edit)
**This one is near impossible to cut--so I didn't! All I basically did here was start the track from the R&B section to the all out dance mix and then clipped it at the end with a cute ending. This is another "Forever Gag" because I just can't imagine producing something this intense. So top 3!!!**

Play - I Must Not Chase The Boys (JM's Thunderpuss Radio Edit)
**Now I admit that when I was growing up, I was totally sucked into the pop music craze that started with Britney and I was all about the style and all the lesser known artists that went with it. I found girl group Play's first single "Us Against The World" which was I thought was so cute (and even had mixes by Andy & The Lamboy) and I figured they'd be a flash in the pan. Well, they are no longer together, but along the way they did make some interesting waves. This song firstly was a great song for Thunderpuss to take on. Obviously a tween boy chasing anthem, Thunderpuss makes the song seem a little more mature and coquettish and even a little bit naughty. The title track of their 2004 CD "Don't Stop The Music" was originally written and recorded by fellow Swede Robyn ("Who's That Girl" & "Handle Me"). They also had a long term endorsement for the Limited Too clothing store and were featured on the soundtrack for Disney's 20th anniversary edition of "Annie".**

Spice Girls - Tell Me Why (Thunderpuss Radio Edit) **Official Edit**
**We all know what was going on here! Geri (Ginger Spice) Halliwell quit the group and the scandal took over the world! What were they gonna do now!!?? Well, aside from having her face X-ed out all over, they put out this song, which say what you will, is CLEARLY about Geri. While Mel C was usually co-writing most of the Spice Girls music, she was working on a solo CD and this was mainly written by Mel B & Victoria who had the distinction of having the opening vocals on this song (something she had never done before). This was supposed to have been another single from their "Forever" CD but due to the poor sales of the other singles "Goodbye" & "Holler", it never saw release. Promo's started circulating around though with mixes by Thunderpuss and Jonathan Peters and the song did very well as a club hit. The Jonathan Peters edit was included on the girls latest Greatest Hits cd as a bonus track.**

Thunderpuss feat Chris Barnes - Head (JM's Chris Cox Radio Edit)
**By far a very different venture from Thunderpuss here and while it's listed as Thunderpuss, this time we have Chris Cox doing the bulk of the work. Mostly a spoken word vocal and a strange one at that, you can hear Chris Cox starting to form his own sound here and it wasn't long after this that Thunderpuss started nearing it's end.**

Whitney Houston - My Love Is Your Love (Thunderpuss Radio Edit) **Official Edit**
**This is one of the rare Thunderpuss mixes I don't really care for. They did an ok job but I feel it lacks a general energy that most of their mixes have. There are some nice elements, mainly the vocal effects used, but Jonathan Peters owned this song in the end.**

Thanks again for these. For the "No More Drama" mix, there is a 4:33 official edit. Let me try to find it.
