What can I say about Tony Moran? Well two things I know: Both him AND his music are hot as hell!!
Tony's been around the music industry for years writing and producing freestyle music (and being part of freestyle group The Latin Rascals) and it hasn't stopped there. As music changed, so did Tony and he's written and remixed for Gloria Estefan, Celine Dion, Janet Jackson, Barry Manilow, Cher, Donna Summer, Beyonce, Britney, Deborah Cox and many many more.
If you ever get the chance to see Tony spin an Alegria party--GO!! It was one of the most amazing nights I've ever spent on a dancefloor. Flawless mixing with incredible song choice makes for a to-die-for evening!
So let's let the music do the talking...As was with Junior, this will be at least one of two posts...
Angel Clivilles - Show Me (JM's Tony Moran Album Edit)
**Angel Clivilles (born Louise Sabater) was part of the original freestyle girl group The Cover Girls and this was originally their smash hit song (penned by Tony Moran) in 1986. Angel left the group in 1990 to go solo and 9 years later this was the second single off her 2000 debut CD "Angel". This is a remake of the original Cover Girls hit and Tony really updates the hell out of it with ease. The original mix was around 6:15 and I really only shaved off about a minute of this but it's worth it.**
Angelo Venuto & Reina - Vivo Per Lei (JM's Tony Moran Radio Mix)
**This first time I heard this mix was during one of Junior Vasquez' "Junior's World" mixshow's on KTU and I loved it! Can Reina ever do any wrong?? This time pairing her up with Angelo Venuto who was big at the time for his dance covers of Toto Cutugno's "L'Italiano" and Neil Diamond's "Sweet Caroline", the duo takes on an original Andrea Bocelli hit. Tony makes this pop song a little darker and it complements both artists voices which has Angelo singing the original Italian lyrics and Reina complimenting him in English.**
Celine Dion - My Heart Goes On (Tony Moran Radio Edit) **Official Edit**
**The ultimate ballad makes its way to the dance floor and lord knows I really love me some Celine but is ANYTHING more played out than this song??? While all the mix efforts were good (others by Richie Jones and Soul Solution), Tony made it his own by adding some additional backup vocals and a dramatic production which obviously works with this type of song. This is the only way I can handle listening to this song now lol**
Deborah Cox - Easy As Life (JM's Tony Moran Babylon Mixshow Edit)
**I went back and forth with this one as to whether or not I was going to post it because of it's length and ultimately I decided I had to share it. Now we all know the story behind this: Aida goes to Broadway. Deborah Cox goes to Aida. Deborah & Tony get together on the remix and BAM! Classic! And while the original mix he did was definitely anthemic and fabulous, it's this mix which was featured on his double disc offering "Tour De Beats" that really hits it out of the park! This time Tony and wing-man Warren Rigg get together to create a mix thats anthemic beyond belief!! The extra synth lines in this are absolutely brilliant! This mixshow "edit" clocks in at about 7 1/2 minutes but again--Totally worth it!**
Kevin Aviance - Give It Up (Tribalist III Radio Edit) **Official Edit**
**Ok, so technically this wasn't produced by Tony as it was produced by Giuseppe D and Warren Rigg, but Tony did co-write this and rounds out the third position with Giuseppe & Warren as the Tribalist III, so I thought I would include it anyway. This was a great single for Kevin and you really can't beat that beat especially with Kevin chanting "Bang on the drums while I'm riding you"!**
New Life Crisis - Daylight (Tony Moran Radio Edit) **Official Edit**
**This could be my all time favorite male vocal! New Life Crisis originall started out (and still is to this day) a rock band who joined together in 1999 and signed to Tommy Boy records. This mix of their song appeared on MTV's "Party To Go: Remixed" compilation (Wow! Remember those??) but the label folded before their CD could ever be released. European pop girl group No Angels covered the song and their single went triple platinum selling over three million singles worldwide. Even though it took the group till 2005 to release their debut CD, they're still going strong and Tony really produced an all out hands in the air anthem with this one!**
Steps - One For Sorrow (Tony Moran Radio Edit) **Official Edit**
**This UK pop group ruled the charts from 1997 and even got to tour with a very young Britney Spears in 1999. This song from their first CD "Step One" was featured on the soundtrack to the movie "Drive Me Crazy" starring Melissa Joan Hart and Adrian Grenier. While the lead single was the Stop Remix of Britney's "You Drive Me (Crazy)", this song, this version, mixed by Tony was chosen to be on the soundtrack as well even though there were many mixes including the likes of W.I.P, Soul Solution, Sleaze Sisters and Pimp Juice. However, thanks to Tony it's a straight up, high energy pop remix that I adore still to this day.**
Im gonna end this post with only 7 tracks but there's another Tony Moran post on the way featuring all the songs he produced for the movie "Circuit" as well as many more. Before I do that, I'll take care of most of the requests I've gotten and do a "normal post", if there is such a thing! Hah!
Enjoy!!
